Biography

Biographical Statement
I have extensive experience working at all levels of community and public health nutrition program delviery.
Excellence in nutrition programming for low-income audiences is the focus of my work. Supporting county extension staff such that they deliver a premier, innovative, nationally recognized program for EFNEP and Eat Smart NY participants is a primary goal. Benchmarks to achieve this goal include: completion of a new training scheme for professional and paraprofessional staff; completion of a policy and procedure manual, creation of program review tools to assist staff with onsite quality assurance. Development of management capacity within the nutrition leaders of these programs will serve the system well into the future. Long-term objectives include development of nutrition programming in the areas of maternal and child health with emphasis on breastfeeding. The capacity of county extension staff to touch and influence the health and well being of mothers and young children has not been fully explored. The needs of low-income mothers and families immediately postpartum have not been fully addressed. Both EFNEP and FSNEP programs have great potential here for improving the lives of participants.
