Abstract: Researchers are concerned that even at low levels, environmental estrogens we are exposed to may work together with the body’s own estrogen to increase the risk of breast cancer. This background article was developed for the BCERF web site to explain the science supporting a role for estrogen and environmental estrogens in the risk of breast cancer.
