| Abstract: | Memorial Statement for Professor Jack Charles Geary, D.V.M. (1920-1992) who was first Director of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and then Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Department of Large Animal Medicine, Obstetrics, and Surgery at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Leaving Cornell in 1960, Dr. Geary returned in 1966 to become Associate Professor (1966) and Professor (1969) of Radiology. After his retirement in 1976, he continued as a part-time radiologist from 1981-1983. "His work was a major factor in reducing the incidence of hip dysplasia in dogs." Professor Geary authored over 25 scientific papers, many of which were on linear tomography and imaging of spinal diseases, particularly traumatic injuries. He was an excellent teacher and accumulated an extensive collection of radiographic slides that covered all aspects of veterinary radiology which were valuable for teaching purposes.
