The Department of City and Regional Planning believes that learning in the classroom, in the laboratory or studio, and in the community contribute to an urbanist's education.

We are interested in why cities sprawl, in urban politics, in how to better serve residents of inner-city neighborhoods, in how people in developing countries can meet basic needs as well as move into the global information economy.
