Surgical treatment of otitis is not a common procedure in cattle, and as a result, the best methods for treatment are not well understood. A steer presenting for treatment of chronic otitis externa, which had been refractory to medical therapy, provided a challenge as to what the best possible surgical treatment should be. Surgical treatment of chronic otitis is frequently performed in canines; therefore the surgical techniques performed in the dog were adapted for treatment of the steer.en_US
