Coming from a film background my focus has always been on narrative. The narrative structures that I have been trained in serve as the foundation for all of my work to date. But online, that foundation can be turned in different directions. Using graphics, photos, video, words and most importantly, navigational control, the narrative is suddenly multidimensional. I am exploring ways of incorporating the narrative structures that have worked so well in the past with the diverse elements available through the Web.

Me Standing There, You Standing Here is a web-based, multi-dimensional, photo/graphic narrative about a woman who, in the late 70's, takes her two children across the country to meet various men she contacts from personal ads in the backs of magazines. Inspired by actual events, the bittersweet tale will take viewers on a journey through childhood memories and associations, theirs and mine. Part documentary, part interactive memoir the project will create a narrative thread using the memories of the protagonists juxtaposed with the memories of the same events submitted by people they met along the way.
