Abstract

This assignment sequence is designed to enhance students’ writing abilities. The assignments are ordered to help students first see how different arguments fit into the context of a wider dialectic, then to help them build an argument that fits into this wider debate, and finally to help them learn to cut an argument down into its clearest form. There is also focus on helping students develop their writing through the use of multiple revisions, collaboration, and editing.
